Energy provider to offer CHP to businesses

One of the UK's leading energy suppliers is set to offer its business customers the chance to have a micro combined heat and power (CHP) system installed.

Through a deal with generator manufacturer EC Power, E.ON is believed to be preparing for the roll-out of the technology to commercial clients interested in the energy efficient systems.

Talking to BusinessGreen about the agreement, Ashley Grist, managing director of EC Power, said that the deal showed the potential that CHP could become useful to many businesses in the UK.

He explained: "Our company is owned by Europe's largest energy company, Statoil.

"Another energy giant like E.ON getting onboard demonstrates that micro CHP has a seat at the top table – alongside other micro-generation technologies."

The reports of E.ON's plans have come after it welcomed a report by the Carbon Trust on the potential of micro-CHP generators.

Board member for generation and technology, Bob Taylor, said that the company saw the technology as "the only affordable solution" to help businesses reduce their carbon footprints.ADNFCR-1054-ID-18394379-ADNFCR
